How’ve you been? It’s been 2 weeks since the 2023 Golden Melody Festival finished. Have you discovered music that has become the earworm you can’t get rid of? I don’t know about you, but Outlet Drift’s psychedelic voice and roaring staging certainly become one of the highlights of the showcases.
With a bit of rain and the shouting of the building security, Wushang, the guitarist/vocalist of the band, tried to park his van stuffed with band equipment backstage. He just drove his old van from Pisirian, Taitung for almost 300 km and arrived in Taipei one day ahead. Although the band was awarded for the Best Aboriginal Album in 2021 Golden Melody Award, this is still the first time that they were chosen to perform on the stage of GMA, especially in front of numerous heavy hitters from the global music industry. The morale backstage was pretty high among the three band members and their technicians Kanji Kawabata and Kui Taruzaljum. They prepared to kill it that night.

venue Corner MAX was opened in November 2021 during the pandemic. The Outlet Drift gave their performance at the venue for the first time. Linken, the drummer from the band, was amazed by the professional equipment and the crew during the rehearsal. A VIP standing area is set at the gallery on the 2nd floor. International delegates were gathered here for the showcase. You can easily sense that the attention in the house was all attracted to Outlet Drift’s gig by the fact that nobody shifted their position to the food bar while Outlet Drift is presenting their astonishing gig.
Outlet Drift is the new and genuine phenomenon of Taiwan Sound. ... The band sing in their native language and the repertory consists of well cared songs that are converted into pure party and forcefulness at the live show.
The first thing that I highlighted from Outlet Drift performance is their energy. ... And the other thing is the authenticity of the band when they share their local wisdom as a Taiwanese indigenous.
The dazzling change of the tempo, modulation by a chromatic semitone, and the massive usage of the tritone interval. With these musical elements, you might wonder if there is a "formula" to create such an eye-catching musical experience in the streaming era that millions of songs were at fans' fingertips. The energy of Outlet Drift's music is not only driven by the technique and musicianship, the authenticity and originality that the band wish to present based on the indigenous cultural root is probably the key that makes people moved by wave after wave of musical climax.

Stepping on the GMA stage marks a new beginning of the band’s career. The band has formed over 10 years and they started the collaboration with the Wind Music label only until 2023. We are not only honored but also proud to have the opportunity striving together with this amazing band. Let’s all sit back and witness the rising sensation!
